R -- BRIDGE MODIFICATION FOR PROTECTIVE FORCE SUPPORT SERVICES SOL DE-RP01-99NN50115 DUE 110199 POC Timothy Jackson, Contract Specialist, 202-426-0129 The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) intends to award a bridge contract modification to Wackenhut Services, Inc. under contract number DE-AC01-97NN50115 which expires on October 31, 1999. This acquisition is to continue the Protective Force Support Services, provided to the Office of Safeguards & Security, Headquarters Operations Division, NN-514.1. The general activities within the functional areas will include, training and maintaining an armed and unarmed, uniformed security force, (hereafter referred to as the protective force) prevent unauthorized access, protect property, protect and control classified and sensitive information and maintain order. The proposed 3 month modification will provide for an estimated DPLH of 80,697. This extension will prevent an adverse impact on the mission of the Office of Safeguards & Security, which would occur with the interruption of the work presently being performed under contract number DE-AC01-97NN50115. This acquisition provides a "bridge" from the existing Wackenhut contract to a new competitively awarded contract that is currently solicited under RFP number DE-RP01-99NN50476. The DOE Office of Procurement Services expects the follow-on contract to be awarded by January 20, 2000, barring no unforseen complications. Solicitations for this instant procurement are not available. Interested persons have 15 days from the publication of this synopsis to submit in writing to the identified point of contact, their qualifications/capabilities. Such qualifications/capabilities will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis.
