SYMPOSIUM OVERVIEW: In concert -- and often in conflict -- with the information explosion in the Intelligence Community (IC) is the trend toward downsizing throughout the Federal Government. Increasing attention is being focused on ways to augment the IC to help it accomplish its mission. Many are asking questions about the interface between the IC and the private sector. The AFCEA Fall '99 Intelligence Symposium has been designed by the government and industry members of the AFCEA Intelligence Committee to explore these questions and more. In the first session, executive and legislative leaders will provide their views on the state of the IC, particularly from the perspective of public/private cooperation. The second session will focus on future requirements of the National Security Agency and the National Imagery and Mapping Agency. In the third session, senior private sector leaders will discuss what Industry is and can bring to the Intelligence mix. In the fourth session, the focus will shift to two more agencies -- the National Reconnaissance Office and the Defense Intelligence Agency. The final session will attempt to peer into the future and look at the longer-term opportunities for Government/Industry teaming. In addition, over 30 vendors will showcase the latest in intelligence-related technology.
