jmott@lanl.gov, jmott@lanl.gov. The University of California, which
operates Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) under contract to the
U.S. Department of Energy, solicits Letters of Interest from companies
interested in becoming a technology development and/or licensing
partner in demonstrating the practical applications of NEUTRON-CAPTURE
INDUCED RADIATION TREATMENT OF POLYMERS ("Technology"). The Technology
is a method for forming highly cross-linked polymers with desired
properties such as hardness, friction resistance, wear resistance, and
thermal stability. The starting material can be a variety of properly
doped plastics, which are then exposed to neutrons from a variety of
sources, such as from a nuclear reactor or an accelerator spallation
source. Because the method treats the material throughout its
thickness, the starting material can take any complex three-dimensional
shape. The Technology is the subject of U.S. Patent No. 5,942, 156. Any
company interested in this opportunity must respond with a Letter of
Interest that provides a description of the company's (1) business and
business goals; (2) managing officers and board of directors; (3)
technical staff and resources; (4) financial resources; (5)
manufacturing and marketing capabilities; and (6) motivation for
pursuing this opportunity. Respondents are encouraged to provide
ancillary documentation such as annual reports, corporate resumes,
commitment letters from financial partners, and technical publications.
The Letter of Interest must provide this information or the respondent
will not be considered as a qualified respondent. The Letter of
Interest must be postmarked on or before INSERT DATE 60 DAYS AFTER
POSTING DATE. Please send Letters of Interest to the attention of John
B. Mott, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Industrial Business
Development Program Office, Mail Stop C334, Los Alamos, New Mexico,
