Jzyk (206)526-6039 This publication serves as notice of intent to procure on a sole source basis, with the Aviation Technology Center/University of Alaska-Anchorage, for services to establish an Alaska Experimental Forecast Facility. This facility shall direct, conduct, transfer, and evaluate relevant research and technology to improve critical warnings and forecasts to the aviation user community. The Government intends to negotiate with the University of Alaska-Anchorage as it is the only known entity to provide a portion of the funds necessary to operate the facility and who is also capable of meeting the criteria established for implementing and operating such a program. Specifically to, 1) maintain an active and ongoing aviation program that includes research, education, and training; 2) be located less than ten miles from the National Weather Service's Alaska Aviation Weather Unit in Anchorage, Alaska, which insures constant and direct interaction with forecasters; 3) provide direct support of one Chief Scientist and required facility space; and 4) be located less than ten miles of the Anchorage International Airport, the aviation hub for Alaska to provide direct liaison and interaction with users. The period of performance is anticipated to be for a one-year period with options for two additional one-year periods. This notice may represent the only official notice of such solicitation.
