COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF OCTOBER 8,1999 PSA#2451A -- ISE INDUSTRY/ACADEMIA WORKSHOP In November 1997 the NASA
Administrator, Dan Goldin, announced that NASA would be starting a new
national initiative for the development of a revolutionary engineering
and science life cycle design and analysis environment, called the
Intelligent Synthesis Environment (ISE). Since this announcement,
planning has been conducted involving representatives from all of the
NASA Centers and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, with consultation by
other government agencies, industry and academia. Plans for the ISE
Initiative are now maturing. The Initiative will address technologies
for the development, integration, and application of tools and
processes for the analysis, design, and simulation of the life-cycles
of aerospace systems by geographically distributed workgroups of
scientists and engineers. The development and integration of advanced
techniques such as high-speed analyses, intelligent tools/agents, and
3-D immersion that operate in an electronically networked,
open-architecture, computational frameworkis envisioned. At present,
the Initiative is comprised of the following areas: (1) rapid synthesis
and simulation tools, (2) cost and risk management technology, (3) life
cycle integration and validation, (4) collaborative engineering
environment and (5) revolutionize cultural change, training and
education. The NASA Langley Research Center intends to host an
industry/academia workshop for the ISE Initiative on October 28 and 29,
1999 at Pearl Young Theater. The Workshop will afford NASA the
opportunity to brief industry and academia on the status of ISE
Initiative plans. In addition to the briefing, participants will be
given the opportunity to ask questions, raise issues and offer
suggestions/advice for consideration by the NASA. U. S. Government
agencies have already been briefed on ISE. Due to the broad potential
interest in this briefing and the limited seating, NASA is limiting
attendance to three (3) persons per company or company division.
Further, the overall seating capacity is limited to the first200
persons responding and pre-registration is required to assure that you
have a seat. The registration URL is:http://www.ise.nasa.gov. Please
be prepared to submit the following information: name, company,
business mailing address, telephone number, facsimile number, email
address, and company URL, if available. All information associated with
this briefing will be promptly posted on the web site. Questions of a
technical nature can be directed to Dr. Jerrold M. Housner
(757-864-1100) and general workshop administrative questions can be
directed to Julie B. Fowler (757-864-1100). WEB: Click here for the
