E-MAIL: Michael T. Stubbs, M.T.STUBBS@larc.nasa.gov. NASA/LaRC plans to issue a IFB for Modifications to Model Preparation Area, Building 647, East Area of Langley Research Center, Hampton, VA. The work consists of, but is not limited to: Demolition -- Removal of asbestos-containing material including vinyl asbestos tile flooring, pipe insulation, and cement asbestos wall partitions, lead based paint on existing material and partitions, removal of all obsolete and unused utilities including electrical equipment, lighting, process piping, and steam piping, sprinkler system and alarm check, existing mechanical equipment including two HVAC systems and cooling tower, removal of combustible ceiling material and wood suspension system, combustible and damaged inoperable wood access doors, removal of monorail hoists and track beams, and removal of existing lighting and power. Architectural -- Provide and install new gypsum wall board partitions, new hollow metal doors and frames, new acoustical ceilings including repair and refinishing of some existing ceiling, new floor coverings, new resinous flooring, painting of new and existing materials, two ADA compliant toilets, and miscellaneous modifications. Structural -- Provide and install new monorail beams and hoists, and a foundation for future backstop. Mechanical -- Provide and install new air-cooled package chiller and ductwork, and complete fire protection modifications. Electrical -- Provisions for power connections for new mechanical equipment and new lighting modifications and extension to existing fire alarm system. The order of magnitude for the procurement is $500,000 -- $1.0M and the effort shall be completed within 270 calendar days after notice to proceed. This procurement is part of the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program. The SIC Code and small business size standard for this procurement are 1542 and $17.0M, respectively. The anticipated release date of the IFB is on or about October 22, 1999 with an anticipated offer closing date of on or about November 22, 1999. The firm date for receipt of bids or offers will be stated in the IFB. Drawings will be available from the Bid Distribution Office 757/864-2502. All QUALIFIED responsible sources may submit a bid which shall be considered by the agency. An ombudsman has been appointed -- See Internet Note "B".
