The work consists of Rental Equipment and Operators for Maintenance
dredging at Gulfport Harbor. The work under this contract consists of
furnishing and operating a hydraulic cutterhead pipeline dredge with
pump discharge of not less than 24 inch diameter nor more than 30 inch
diameter with all necessary pipeline, materials, supplies, labor and
transportation for maintenance dredging within Gulfport Harbor, Ship
Island Pass Channels and Anchorage Basin. The dredging will consist of
the removal and satisfactory disposal of material lying above the
plane of 38 feet MLLW. All material excavated from the assigned channel
segments will be transported and deposited into the adjacent to channel
open water disposal areas. The contract is for a period of 60 days.
Estimated cost of work is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. Bid
documents are available on or about 29 October 1999. No cost.
Unrestricted. SIC 1629. All responsible sources may submit an offer,
which shall be considered. Bidders, subcontractors and Dodge/Plan Rooms
are required to self-register their firm or office on the Internet to
receive one CD-ROM. Registration instructions are available on the
Internet at http://www.sam.usace.army.mil/sam/ct. Neither telephonic,
mailed, nor fax requests will be accepted. Those registering are
responsible for the accuracy of the information on the mailing list.
Registration must include the firm's physical address, telephone, a
valid fax number and a point of contact. Registration should be
completed one week prior to the issue date. All notifications of
changes to this solicitation shall be made through the Internet only.
It is therefore the contractors responsibility to check the Internet
address listed above daily, for any posted changes to this
solicitation. Actual solicitation amendments will be issued either by
fax, 3.5" diskette or CD-ROM. The plans and specifications will be
issued on Compact Disc (CD-ROM) only and will be provided free of
charge. Plans and specifications will not be provided in a printed
paper format; however, the Government reserves the right to revert to
paper medium when it is determined to be in the Government's best
interest. All bid forms, bid bonds, and other normal documents required
for the bid submittal, including amendments to the bid submittal, shall
be in paper medium. Electronic medium for the bid submittal documents
will not be allowed. EFFECTIVELY IMMEDIATELY: Presolicitation Notices
will no longer be issued by the Mobile District for Projects in the
Continental United States and Puerto Rico. Advertisement of Mobile
District projects will be through the Commerce Business Daily and/or
the Mobile District Contracting Homepage. Detailed information on this
