Michelle.A.Kewer@usace.army.mil. Waterproof sheet membrane shall be of
the 'Welded By Torch' type, specifically manufactured for application
on concrete bridge decks. The manufacturer shall have a minimum of 10
years experience in waterproofing bridge decks, and the product shall
have a proven track record in applications with a 6% grade and
breaking traffic. Adhesion to the substrate shall be a minimum of 60
psi. The waterproof sheet membrane system shall consist of: An adhesive
primer, a non-woven polyester reinforcement fabric which is saturated
and coated with a Styrene Butadiene Styrene (SBS) modified bitumen. An
aggregate surface, and an adhesive primer to improve bond to the
asphalt wearing surface. The product shall meet the minimum
requirements of ASTM D 6164, Grade G, Type II. The product manufacturer
shall provide a self contained, self propelled machine that welds the
membrane to the concrete substrate in a consistent manner, providing a
uniform high strength bond. The manufacturer shall provide quality
control for field application of the product, and shall be capable of
repairing any blisters in the membrane either before or after the
asphalt wearing surface is applied. Products similar or equal to
"Sopralene Flam Antirock" as manufactured by Soprema USA, Wadsworth,
OH, will be evaluated for acceptability. Firms should provide
sufficient information for evaluation of their product and its ability
to meet the above stated criteria. This information should be
