Logistic Command, Pacific is proposing a contract for the dry-docking
and repairs of the USCGC SASSAFRAS. The cutter's home moorage is
located at Victor Pier Naval Station Guam. The cutter will be
geographically restricted for repairs the distance not to exceed from
Oahu, Hawaii to Guam. The period of performance for this contract
begins 13 Mar to 05 May 2000. The major work items include and not
limited to: bulwark bracing preservation, closed chock repair,
ultrasonic measurement of hull plating thickness, forecastle rubrail
repair, underwater body inspection, sewage/grey water tanks cleaning &
inspection, fuel oil tanks cleaning and inspection, potable water
tanks cleaning & inspection, proulsion shaft liners renewal, propulsion
shaft thrust bearing, stern seal, and pedestal bearing overhaul, heat
exchanger cleaning, electric motor overhaul, fathometer transducer
renewal, vent duct cleaning, vent fan overhaul, sea valve and waster
piece overhaul, drain pipe repair, fuel oil transfer deck valves and
piping renewal, and fuel oil valve overhaul, air receiver inspections
& test, steering gear inspection and packing renewal, rudder & rudder
stock maintenance, bow thruster maintenance, hydraulic cargo hoisting
gear overhaul & test, level 2, cargo hoisting padeye testing, ground
tackle overhaul, seaarc davit screw assembly overhaul, buoy deck
preservation, underwater body preservation (partial), zinc anode
renewal, polymeric deck coverings replacement/renewal and repair,
insulation renewal, officers head renovation, temporary services,
dry-docking and etc. The solicitation will be issued under the Small
Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program on or about 01 November
1999. The notice is for informational purposes for Minority,
Women-owned, Disadvantaged Business Enterprises: The Department of
Transportation (DOT), Office of Small Business Disadvantaged Business
Utilization (OSDBU), has programs to assist minority, women-owned,
disadvantaged business enterprises toacquire short-term working capital
for transportation-related contracts. Loans are available under the DOT
Short Term Lending Programs (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide
accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.
