Service (CNS), North Central Cluster Training Division is planning six
Pre-Service Orientations (PSO) for potential AmeriCorps*VISTA members.
The number of attendees will vary, however, the maximum number of
participants will be 130 for each event. CNS will award a contract to
a qualified vendor in the Chicago, IL area who can provide lodging,
catering, and meeting space for the PSOs. The PSO preferred dates for
FY 2000 are: January 19-21, April 11-13, May 9-11, June 6-8, July
18-20, August 15-17. Note: Some variations in dates are negotiable.
AmeriCorps*VISTA is a federal government program which places members
in low-income communities to assist the communities in alleviating
poverty. The Pre-Service Orientation is for potential members who will
be contemplating joining our community service initiative. The
facility should have a complimentary shuttle service to O'Hare airport.
Facilities that do not have such a service should include an
explanation of the shuttle transportation available and indicate any
cost. The specifics for our events are as follows: Registration Area:
Day 1: A registration area with four 6-foot skirted tables and 8 chairs
set-up outside the general session room. The tables should be facing
each other two on one side and two on the opposite side. Two
wastebaskets are also needed. An area should be designated for luggage
until sleeping rooms are available. Meeting Rooms: Day 1: General
session for 130 people in rounds of 8 chairs per table, plus 4
breakouts for 20 people each, and a hospitality room* Day 2: 3
breakouts for 45 people each, and a hospitality room* (no general
session) Day 3: General session for 130 people in rounds of 8 chairs
per table, and 4 breakouts for 20 people each *Hospitality room can be
the same room dinner is being served. Note: All meeting rooms should
be set in rounds, and pencils should be provided on day one only
instead of ink pens. Sleeping Rooms: 50 double/doubles, 10 singles at
the government rate or below. A few participants will be arriving on
the day before the PSO begins requiring approximately 5-10 sleeping
rooms. The majority of the guests will arrive the morning of the PSO
(day 1). CNS will provide a rooming list. Program Outline and Meals

The general session room should have a podium, a microphone, a table
for materials beside the podium and a flipchart with markers. On day
one only, we may need an audio cart, screen, and vcr. A flipchart with
markers should be available in each breakout room and a table for
materials at the front of the room. Additional audio needs will be
determined as needed. Additional Information: FACILITY MUST BE HANDICAP
ACCESSIBLE. Bids must include the following information: 1 Per night
sleeping room rate for single and double occupancy, not including tax.
Include room tax separately. 2 A per person cost for all catering. We
will only consider food costs which fall within federal per diem for
your area. 3 Charges for meeting room space and audio-visual.4 If not
