(301)827-7155 The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) intends to award
a purchase order on a sole source basis for a twelve (12) month period
to Pathology Associates International, 15 Worman's Mill Court, Suite
I, Frederick, Maryland 21701. Pathology Associates International will
provide the following services: 1)Perform gross and histologic
examination of fetal/embryonic tissue to assay segmental and other
defects, 2) Analyze embryonic tissues for qualitative and quantitative
changes in genetic expression and identify unique proteins that are
expressed in response to physical and chemical exposure using gel
electrophoresis techniques, immunochemical.immunohistochemical
methodologies, etc., 3) Perform assays to identify alterations in the
proliferation of cells with the presomitic mesoderm and other issues of
the developing embryo following in vivo and in vitro hyperthermia
treatment, 4) Analyze embryonic tissues for the specific DNA
endonuclease activity that is accelerated during programmed cell death
using some ofthe following technigues: endonuclease activation, gel
electrophoresis for DNA fragmentation, in situ hybridization and
quantitative RT-PCR, 5) Analyze embryonic tissues for identification of
unique gene expression following hyperthermia using thermo-stable DNA
polymerase and specific primers for a specific sequence or gene of
interest (heat shock genes/proteins;homeobox genes/proteins, etc.).

highly trained and specialized personnel and the immediate access to
highly specialized molecular and immunopathology technologies as well
as advanced teratologic assays. Pathology Associates are uniquely
capable of of fulfilling the requirements with no interruption of
