Commerce/NOAA/National Weather Service intends to procure on a
competitive basis a contractor to facilitate a one and one-half day
Second Workshop on Interna- tional Meteorological Cooperation --
addressing issues and chal- lenges for upgrading national and
international early warning and disaster preparedness and response
practices, with the goal of reducing the economic and social impacts.
The workshop partici- pants will include up to 50 persons, including
U.S. Government employees, Director of foreign Meteorological Services,
staff from the world Meteorological organization, private weather
service providers, the media, and academia. The workshop will be
conducted in English and Spanish. The Second Workshop will be held in
conjunction with the American Meteorological Society's Annual Meeting
in Long Beach, California, January 2000. The workshop format will be a
facilitated discussion similar to the First Work- shop on
International Meteorological in Dallas including plenary sessions,
conducted in English only, and at least 5 facilitated tables of about
10 persons each, which will include at least one Spanish-speaking
table. The contractor shall provide support for preparing information
material and a questionnaire to participants, analyzing the
questionnaire results for use in initiating discussions, coordinating
workshop topics, arranging for invited speakers, preparing workshop
materials, conducting and facilitating workshop discussions, and
producing a summary report for the Second Workshop on International
Meteorological Cooperation. The contractor services are as needed by
the National weather Service from October 1999 through February 29,
