ANNOUNCEMENT 001 The North American Development Bank, on behalf of the
United States Community Adjustment and Investment Program (the
"CAIP"), will issue a Solicitation for Grant Applications on October
15, 1999. Up to $6 million will be available on a competitive basis to
fund grants for specific projects and technical assistance designed to
aid in creating and preserving private sector jobs in designated
communities that have lost, or may lose, jobs due to changes in
international trade patterns associated with the passage of the North
American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Applicants for CAIP grants may
seek to combine grant funds with loan funds from the CAIP direct
lending program. Eligible applicants are 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4)
non-profit organizations, public and private institutions of higher
education, state and local political subdivisions and agencies, and
Indian tribal governments. For further information or a copy of the
