The Recipient shall research and develop emission-related technologies for a low-emission diesel truck engine, and demonstrate the technologies in a technology demonstrator engine system. This demonstrator shall be a specially modified commercial heavy-duty truck diesel rated at 650 BHP. The Recipient shall show by demonstration that the low-emission engine demonstrator system will meet the 1998 Federal On-Highway Heavy Duty Truck Engine Emission Standards CFR Title 40 Part 86 Subpart A (86.098-11) while maintaining 650 BHP.
