488-2643 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is
contemplating the award of a Sole Source contract with Aids Research
Consortium of Atlanta (ARCA) to provide a study of disease progression
in adults and adolescents infected with HIV/AIDS by identifying
medical records of infected individuals at Georgia's Grady Health Care
System, the Veteran's Administration Medical Center and the offices of
all participating private physicians in the Metro Atlanta area.
(Individual patient identifiers will at no time reside in the
centralized database). Surveillance will include descriptive and
quantitative information on persons with HIV infection, monitoring of
asymptomatic HIV infection, phrophylaxis against associated
opportunistic illnesses, and anti-retroviral therapy. The anticipated
performance period is from date of award through December 31, 2000 with
3 one year options. It is believed that ARCA possesses the capability
and is uniquely qualified to perform this study due to the fact that
the contractor has successfully developed and maintained an historical
database containing specified data elements dating back to 1990. All
responsible sources qualified to provide the foregoing services may
submit a response which may be considered by the Agency. See Note 22
