NASA SSC intends to issue a Request for Offer(RFO) with a base and nine (9) options for Drydock and Repairs to the Liquid Oxygen Barge No. 1 (LOX-1). The work consists of providing all labor, tools, equipment and materials necessary to facilitate the drydock, inspection, repair and painting of one 135 foot steel deck barge containing one (1) mounted liquid oxygen cargo tank in accordance with the Scope of Work for Drydock and Repair to NASA/SSC LOX-1 Barge. Damage suffered by the LOX-1 barge was a result of a liquid oxygen spill mishap that caused significant cracks to the deck and hull of the barge. Repairs will range from gouging out and welding minor cracks to cripping and replacing decking containing major cracks as detailed in the Drydock & Repair Scope of Work and Drawings. Replacement steel shall comply with the American Society for testing and Materials specification A36 with all welds made in accordance with the American Welding Society structural welding code for steel. The American Bureau of Shipping, Rules for Building and Classing Steel Barges 1991, shall be used as a guidline for performance of work. Surface preparationand painint shall comply with the requirements of NASA John C. Stennis Space Center Standard 80-008, Standard for Surface Preparation and Painting LOX and LH2 Barges. A firm fixed price contract will be awarded in accordance with NASA MidRange Procurement Procedures.
