510-437-3392 Maintenance and Logistic Command, Pacific proposes to
contract the drydock and repairs of USCGC COWSLIP (WLB 277), a 180'
buoy tender, homeported in Astoria, Oregon. All work shall be at the
contractor's facility during the period of 24 January 2000 and complete
03 March 2000. Work items to include; ultrasonic measurement of hull
plating thickness, underwater body inspection, hull plating renewal,
sewage system tank clean and inspect, fuel oil/lube oil tanks cleaning
and inspection, potable water tank clean and inspect, MDE exhaust
insulation repair/renew, both main propulsion generator commutator
machining, main motor air cooler inspection/hydro, main motor blower
inspection and cleaning, propulsion shaft liners renewal, propulsion
shaft thrust bearing, stern seal and pedestal bearing overhaul,
steering gear motor overhaul, fathometer transducer renewal, pressure
relief valve inspection and test, vent duct cleaning (scullery,
laundry, engine room), sea valve and sea strainer overhaul, fuel oil
tank stripping pipe modification, reverse osmosis desalination plant
installation, air receiver inspections and test, steering gear
inspection and packing renewal, rudder and rudder tock maintenance, bow
thruster maintenance, anchor windlass overhaul, ground tackle overhaul,
potable water tank preservation (partial), peak tank preservation,
underwater body preservation (partial), freeboard preservation, zinc
anode renewal, weather deck preservation, temporary services,
dry-docking. Invitation for Bid (IFB) will be issued on or about
11/05/99. The solicitation is issued in accordance with the Small
Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program. All responsive sources
may submit a offer, which will be considered by this agency. For
Women-Owned and Disadvantage Business Enterprises, the Department of
Transportation (DOT) Minority, Office of Small and Disadvantaged
Business Utilization has programs to assist minority, women-owned and
disadvantaged enterprises to acquire short-term working capital
assistance for transportation related contracts. Loans are available
under the DOT Short-Term Lending Program (STLP) at the prime interest
rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of
