COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF OCTOBER 25,1999 PSA#2461PRE-SERVICE TRAINING DIRECTOR -- POTENTIAL SOURCES SOUGHT The Peace
Corps anticipates a need over the next year for qualified Personal
Service Contractors (individuals, not organizations or companies) to
serve as Pre Service Training Directors in several countries of the
former Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, Africa, Asia and the Pacific.
Personal Service Contracts in specific countries are contingent upon
requests for assistance from the requiring Peace Corps Post. Interested
individuals should respond to this notice as no further notice will be
placed. Pre-Service Training Directors are responsible for the overall
leadership, management, administration, coordination of the Pre-Service
Training (PST) and is responsible to senior Peace Corps staff in all
matters of communications, reporting, evaluation of contractor staff
and trainees, and documentation of training activities. The PST
Director serves as chief administrator of all training activities
including business aspects of the training. They are responsible for
directing trainee learning and are the liaison person for the training
with staff and host country agencies. Other duties include oversight
of all aspects of PST, including senior training staff (Language
Coordinators, Technical Trainers, etc.); responsible for curriculum
development and a majority of training classes for all sectors of
training not under the purview of the Language Coordinator and
Technical Trainers, which includes cross-culture, development theory
and practice (community development role of Volunteer in development,
gender development, Peace Corps orientation and Volunteer adaptations).
Prepares calendar of events, syllabus, Training of Trainers (TOT)
schedules, and orientation schedule. Directs TOT, supervises Trainee
housing assignments and conducts periodic visits to Volunteer host
families. Assures integration between language, cultural, technical and
health/safety aspects of the training program. Bachelor's Degree in a
relevant field required, Master's Degree is preferred. Directly related
training and design experience required, region-specific experience and
fluency in foreign language(s) a plus. Housing and transportation will
be provided for contractor only, no dependents. Some personal hardship
and lack of modern conveniences should be expected. Contracts will be
short-term, generally three to five months. No benefits are offered
beyond Peace Corps required liability insurance and medevac insurance.
