The Federal Bureau of Prisons hereby provides notice of its intent to issue a sole source contract action to GTE Information Systems L L C, 15000 Conference Center Drive, Chantilly, Virginia, 20151 for the follow-on maintenance and related services of the Federal Bureau of Prisons' Inmate Telephone System implemented under contract JADPc-002. These services are for a limited interim period and will be discontinued at individual sites as soon as the new Inmate Telephone System is implemented via contract JADPc-026. Therefore, there will be a decreasing number of sites requiring these services throughout the life of the contract. This contract action will be established for a base of two years and a one-year option. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is not arequest for competitive proposals. However, all responses received within fifteen days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract action, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. No solicitation document exists. Contractors interested in this procurement shall respond in writing with clear and convincing evidence that they are capable of maintaining the existing system with its proprietary software. If no response is received within 15 days of this announcement, the Federal Bureau of Prisons will proceed with award of the contract action to GTE Information Systems L L C.
