On or about 09 November 1999, this office will issue Invitation for Bids for the construction of Right Bank Slope Stabilization Trailrace Wall Extension, Gavins Point Dam, Yankton SD. Bids will be opened on or about 09 December 1999. This solicitation is restricted to small business participation. The work will include the following: (Approx. quantities) Remove existing failed shotcrete layer from the slope and remove damaged drainage structure from the slope. Construct 100 L.F. of cast-in-place reinforced concrete and rock-anchored retaining wall adjacent to and adjoining the existing tailrace retaining wall and construct approx. 38 L.F. of cast-in-place reinforced concrete end wall. The retaining wall will be approximately 25 feet high with an additional 6 feet of wall founded below the excavated rock. Construct new drainage structure consisting of a 18-inch diameter RCP and a 6'x6' outlet stilling basin. Backfill material will be placed behind the wall with a layer of topsoil and seeded. The estimated construction cost of this project is between $750,000 and $500,000. Contractor's Quality Control will be a requirement in this contract. The Contractor will be required to commence work within 10 days after notice to proceed and complete the work 360 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Provisions will be included for liquidated damages in case of failure to complete the work in the time allowed. Performance and payment bonds will be required. The plans and specifications are available on Compact Disk (CD-ROM) and will be provided free of charge. It has been determined that the number of Compact Disks be limited to one (1) per firm. Plans and Specifications will not be provided in a printed hard copy format.
