The purpose of this Sources Sought Synopsis (SSS) is to ascertain the availability of Inflatable Technology as further described below. Should the technology be available, as ascertained by the Government as a result of responses from interested parties to this SSS, a follow-on Request for Proposal (RFP) may be issued. Currently, no funding is available for this initiative. Accordingly, be advised that this is not a RFP and this SSS in no way obligates the Government to award a contract. The Government will not compensate any interested party, firm, or individual that responds to this SSS. The United States Air Force, Air Material Command, 311 Human Systems Wing, Brooks AFB, TX intends to competitively procure inflatable restraint technology for current inventory fighter aircraft ejection seats. Potential Offerors to any resultant RFP, will later offer a product/system utilizing inflatable technology for injury mitigation for aircrew members who eject from 0-50,000 feet in an ejection envelope of 0-6000 KEAS (knots equivelent air speed), for a non-gender specific aircrew population of 112 -- 245 pounds, and 5.0 -- 6.5 feet in height. Injury mitigation is defined as a technoloy which, when applied, will significantly lessen the ejectee's likelihood of sustaining injuries to the head, neck and torso areas (while limiting limb flail) due to position and/or windblast. Formal responses to the SSS should be limited to two, 8 1/2"x 11" typed pages and should detail the experience and capabilities of your firm to provide Inflatable Restraint Technology, as outlined above, to the Government.
