TENNESSEE RIVER STREAMBANK STABILIZATION, SHILOH NATIONAL MILITARY
PARK, HARDIN COUNTY, TENNESSEE. Work shall consist of stabilizing
approximately 5700 feet of streambank using riprap and retaining walls.
The work site is characterized as having both relatively low banks (20
feet above normal pool) to high, steep bluffs that can rise to 100
feet above normal pool areas. The streambank stabilization will consist
of limited foundation and toe excavation, riprap placement,
mechanically stabilized earth wall and gabion wall construction,
articulated block placement, and placement of topsoil and seeding. The
lower bank areas will be treated with all riprap placement while the
high bluff areas will require construction of the MSE wall on top of a
riprap foundation. The outside face of the MSE wall will be protected
with a gabion basket layer. A small section of bank will require
placement of an articulated concrete block layer at the top edge of the
bank. The principal items of work include but are not limited to the
following approximate quantities: clearing, unclassified excavation
10,000 CY, riprap 150,000 Tons, stone backfill for MSE walls 50,000
Tons, geotextile 55,000 SY, MSE wall wire mesh reinforcement 40,000 SY,
gabions 4500 CY, articulated blocks 5500 SF, and seeding/sod 5,600 SY.
The Contractor's work access will be restricted to marine access. No
land access to the site will be permitted. This is an Indefinite
Delivery Indefinite Quantity Contract with a duration of one (1) base
year and two (2) option years thereafter, with a ceiling of
$9,000,000.00. This solicitation is being advertised electronically
only. No printed sets of specifications and drawings will be furnished.
The specifications, drawings, and all necessary software will be
contained in a CD-ROM, available on 16 November 1999. The CD-ROM will
be furnished to all prospective bidders who register for this
solicitation. There will be no charge for the CD-ROM. Only one copy
will be furnished to each prospective bidder. Prospective bidders are
responsible for printing the documents if they so desire. The CD-ROM
contains the official copy of this solicitation. This office is not
responsible for the accuracy or completeness of files obtained from the
CD-ROM and distributed by others. Bids will be opened on or about 17

sufficient interest is obtained from prospective bidders, a pre-bid
meeting will be held sometime between late November and early December
1999 at the Shiloh National Military Park Headquarters Building. Those

a view of the project from a vessel on the Tennessee River. Bidders are
encouraged to visit the site to assess the working conditions and scope
