J -- MAINTENANCE OF WATER VAPOR SENSING SYSTEMS SOL 52RANR000008 POC Jan Beer, 303/497-6320 or Procurement Technicians, 303/497-3221 E-MAIL: NOAA; MASC Acquisition Management Division, Brenda.S.Summers@noaa.gov. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), U.S. Department of Commerce intends to negotiate with only one source, B.F. Goodrich Aircraft Sensors, 1256 Trapp Road, Eagan, MN 55121 for the maintenance (calibration and recalibration) of 30 Water Vapor Sensor Systems (WVSS) with an option for 30 more systems. The WVSS is currently being flown on United Parcel Service B-757 aircraft which is the first time that water vapor has been measured in a fast-moving commercial aircraft. The WVSS sensor requires periodic re-calibration in order to produce accurate data; hence, the need to re-calibrate every 6 months and replace and calibrate every 12 months. The WVSS program is a demonstration effort to prove that water vapor can be measured from commercial aircraft in real-time. This unique prototype was developed by Lockheed-Martin and B.F. Goodrich (fomerly Rosemount Aerospace) for this program. B.F. Goodrich is the only company that has actually built the WVSS unit which is a modification of the B.F. Goodrich total air temperature probe. This notice is for information purposes only. No solicitation will be issused. See Note 22. Posted 10/28/99 (W-SN396059). (0301)
