Wolfe, Jr., 304/285-5883 The National Institute for Occupational Safety
and Health (NIOSH), in Morgantown, WV is currently involved in an
effort to reduce fall-related injuries and fatalities through the
Fatality Assessment and Control Evaluation (FACE) Program. Under this
program, NIOSH is investigating fall-related fatalities, conducting
risk factor assessments, and developing injury prevention
recommendations. The objectives of this solicitation are to (1) conduct
a literature search for information about fall protection
methods/technologies for roofing work (i.e., roof construction,
maintenance, and repair; both for commercial and residential
buildings); (2) identify the current fall protection knowledge gaps
related to roofer safety; and (3) develop recommendations for future
research efforts targeted to address the fall protection needs of
roofing workers. The entire scope of work and evaluation factors for
this project are addressed in the solicitation. Solicitation RQ2000-004
will be issued unrestricted on or about November 15, 1999, and
proposals will be due o/a December 14, 1999. Organizations interested
