Ext. 7789 Provide A/E design services for the design development,
construction documents, specifications, cost estimates and design
narratives for the site renovation project titled "Correct Access
Deficiencies" at the Ralph H. Johnson Dept. of Veterans Affairs Medical
Center, Charleston, SC, as described in the scope of work, statement of
tasks and minimum requirements for A/E submissions. SIC: 8712.
Disciplines involved may include, but are not limited to: civil
engineering, structural engineering, electrical & mechanical
engineering. All professional services shall be a part of the design
team announced in the SF 254's & 255's. Specific evaluation factors,
not in priority order shall be: 1) Professional qualifications of the
entire team in areas necessary for the satisfactory performance of the
required services. The team will be given particular attention for its
overall coordination; previous experience in working together as a
team; and estimating capabilities including electronic date &
communication abilities on the Internet & with the Engineering Office
of the VA Medical Center, Charleston. Individual members of the team
will be considered for their professional qualifications & experience
relevant to the project including, the experience & capabilities of the
Autocadd Manager & Autocadd Operators assigned to the project; 2)
Specialized experience & technical competence, for design &
construction, by all members of the civil, structural, electrical,
mechanical & computer-aided design/drafting team, including the
development of record drawings & facility as-built plans at project
completion, with examples of similar type project designs; 3) Prior
experience by all members of the team in the design of alterations &
repair projects, development & preparation of conceptual plans, design
development plans, construction documents including estimates,
narrations & specifications; 4) Experience of team members in the
coordination of site work & traffic flow through the area of
construction; 5) Capacity of all members of the team to produce
construction documents by April 14, 2000; 6) Past performance of all
members of the team on contracts with Government agencies as well as
private industry, in terms of conceptual plans, cost control, quality
of work, compliance with project schedules & completion of project
record drawings & facility as-built plans; 7) Location of principle
firm within a one-hundred (100) mile geographical radius of Charleston,
South Carolina. A/E firms are required to respond in writing if
interested & shall submit a completed SF 254 & SF 255. SF 254's are NOT
kept on file at this VAMC. Firms responding to this announcement by
Close of Business, (4:30 PM, Charleston, SC, time) November 29, 1999,
will be considered. Firms selected for interview will be requested to
present their approach for this project & demonstrate their experience.
