Officer, (202) 942-4990 The Securities and Exchange Commission(SEC) is
soliciting proposals for the implementation and maintenance of an
off-site automated system to continuously scan the Internet and gather
data from the world wide web, Usenet discussion areas/newsgroups,
listservs, and other public discussion areas. This automated system
consists of what are commonly known as a web crawler or spider and a
Usenet reader. This automated system will be used by authorized staff
in the Division of Enforcement to identify communications that may
violate the federal securities laws or may indicate that persons
originating the communication are engaged in violations. The period of
performace will be for a base year and two option years of services.
Request for the solicitation must be made in writing. No telephone
