COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF NOVEMBER 2,1999 PSA#2467A -- ASTRO/ORBIAL EXPRESS INDUSTRY DAY The DARPA Tactical Technology
Office (DARPA/TTO) will host a half-day, unclassified/FOUO review of
the planned ASTRO/Orbital Express program, and the related, but
independent, Water-based Space Power/Propulsion initiative, for
interested representatives of U.S. Government and U.S. industry only,
0800 to 1200, 10 Nov 1999, at the Key Bridge Marriott Hotel, Rosslyn
VA. (Attendee check-in will open at 0700, 10 Nov, at the conference
site. Attendees are encouraged to use Metro Rail public transportation
due to limited on-site parking. The Rosslyn Metro Rail station is
three blocks from the conference site.) The ASTRO/Orbital Express
program is a planned DARPA effort to research, develop and demonstrate
on-orbit robotic techniques for on-orbit preplanned electronics
upgrade, refueling and reconfiguration of satellites that could support
a broad range of future U.S. national security and commercial space
programs. The Water-based Space Power/Propulsion initiative is a
planned DARPA effort to research and develop on-orbit uses of water for
the generation and storage of spacecraft electrical energy and/or
generation of propulsive power. (For details of the planned

Preplanned Electronic Upgrade, Refueling and Reconfiguration" and
"Water-based Space Power/Propulsion," respectively.) The intent of
hosting an Industry Day conference is to inform industry of Government
planning related to the ASTRO/Orbital Express and Water-based Space
Power/Propulsion initiatives, and to afford industry an opportunity to
provide comments on, and obtain clarification of, the Requests for
Information issued in support of both prospective programs.
Organizations wishing their representatives to attend the Industry Day
conference should submit attendance requests, via e-mail, to the
Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), Attn: Ms. Christine

organizations will be limited to a maximum of 5 representatives each.
Registration application must be received NLT 03 Nov 99. Registrations
will be confirmed via e-mail NLT 05 Nov 99. Each individual must
submit the following information: last name, first name, business
title, organization, full street address, city, state, zip code,
telephone number, fax number and e-mail address. Each organization
should specify a single point of contact for Industry Day registration
issues. A conference registration fee of $30.00 per individual must be
paid at the conference site. No group/organization checks will be
accepted. Each individual will make checks payable to SRS Technologies.
