michealdb@mcsc.usmc.mil. The Marine Corps Systems Command
(MARCORSYSCOM) has a requirement for initial production of the Predator
Weapon System. The Predator Weapon System is a one man portable, fire
and forget, Short Range Anti-tank weapon system designed to defeat the
next generation of advanced armor threats. The Predator system
characteristics consist of the following: (1) weight of 22 pounds or
less, (2) length less than 40 inches, (3) effective range of 17 to 600
meters, (4) inertial guidance capable of addressing moving, as well
as, stationary targets and soft launch fire-from-enclosure capability.
The Predator will be built to performance specification. The required
delivery quantity for this initial production effort is 698 units with
a required period of performance of approximately twenty (20) months
after contract award. MARCORSYSCOM intends to award a sole source
contract to Lockheed Martin Electronics & Fire Control Division, 5600
Sand Lake Road, Orlando, Florida, 32819-8907. Lockheed Martin is the
existing Engineering, Manufacturing, and Development (EMD) contractor
and it has been determined that the production of the supplies listed
requires a substantial initial investment and/or an extended period of
preparation for manufacture by any other source other than the
existing EMD contractor. Maintaining production with the current EMD
contractor will eliminate substantial duplication of cost due to
existing proven production lines and elimination of extensive
production readiness review, physical configuration testing and audits,
and extensive engineering support. See Numbered Note 22. Posted
