The Space & Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR), on behalf of the Program Executive Officer -- Tactical Aircraft Programs {PEO(T)}, plans to award contracts to Data Link Solutions, L.L.C. and ViaSat, Inc. for non-recurring engineering (NRE) and long lead materials to support U.S. production of the Multifunctional Information Distribution System -- Low Volume Terminal (MIDS-LVT). Contract awards are planned for December 1999 to support a MIDS-LVT(1) variant qualification and delivery no later than September 2001. The planned contract awards will contain a firm-fixed-price base year requirement but will not provide an authorization to build or produce MIDS-LVTs. The contracts will include firm-fixed-price options for terminals, spares, warranties, supportability set-up/management, maintenance & repair, technical data/computer software rights associated with a technical data package and a cost-plus-fixed-fee option for engineering services.
