58 -- FIRST GENERATION COMMON MODULES DUE 112099 POC Ana Cardinale, Engineer, 732-427-5779 WEB: Interagency Interactive Business Opportunities Page, http://abop.monmouth.army.mil. E-MAIL: FIRST GENERATION COMMON MODULES, cardinal@mail1.monmouth.army.mil. This is a market survey to locate additional sources to satisfy the Army's requirements for the following Detector/ Dewar and Dewar/Cooler Assemblies that are part of the First Generation Common Modules in Night Vision infrared applications. This acquisition will be for a 5 year, firm fixed price Indefinite Delivery/ Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) type contract. The guaranteed base year quantities for the items being procured are listed in the table below. The Detector/ Dewar module performs the optical-to-electrical conversion function. A mercury-cadmium-telluride (HgCdTe) array, sensitive in the 7.5 to 12 mm spectral region is used. The detector array is mounted onto a dewar that provides an insulated vacuum enclosure for maintaining low detector temperature. The detector elements must be maintained at approximately 80 K during operation. The cooler module is a miniature, closed-cycle mechanical refrigerator that operates on the Stirling cycle principle and is driven by an ac motor (117V, 400 Hz). Its function is to extract heat from the detector/ dewar module and to maintain the operating temperature of the array at a level of approximately 77 K. The detector/dewar mounts to a flange on the cooler cold finger assembly, and, a flexible copper/nickel bellows and thermally conductive grease provide the thermal interface between the cold finger and the glass stem of the detector/dewar. The Army is interested in acquiring the following versions of the detector/ dewar and detector/ cooler assemblies: ITEM NSN Base Year Guaranteed Qty P/N SPEC # *OR-336/A 5855-01-293-1592 300 5008644-1 MIL-C-49309 DT-591A/UA 5855-01-172-9992 50 5004385 MIL-D-49446A OR-334/V 5855-01-134-6733 100 5008612-1 MIL-C-49308 *OR-338/V 5855-01-291-1126 100 5008645-1 MIL-C-49310 *DT-635A/U 5855-01-351-2541 50 A3172180 MIL-D-49317 *These items are optically improved and the specifications for these requires a secret clearance. All interested offerors must undergo a security clearance through the U.S. Army, CECOM, Security Assistance Office before having access to these specifications. All interested offerors must submit their request, in writing, to U.S. Army, CECOM, ATTN: AMSEL-LC-IEW-N-TI (A. Cardinale), Fort Monmouth, NJ 07703-5000. The specifications/drawings mentioned above fully describe the functional requirements and physical interface requirements for the detector/dewar and detector/cooler assemblies being procured . The current source for both of these items is Lockheed Martin Thermal Imaging Systems, 2 Forbes Rd., Lexington, Mass. Other suppliers capable of furnishing these items must so indicate, in writing, to US Army, CECOM, ATTN: AMSEL-LC-IEW-N-TI (A. Cardinale), Fort Monmouth, NJ 07703-5000. The responses must include documentation ( mechanical drawings/ sketches, etc.) demonstrating that the offeror can supply an item that is physically and functionally interchangeable with the items that the current source supplies for these NSNs. For additional information contact Ana Cardinale at (732) 427-5779 or e-mail address: cardinal@mail1.monmouth.army.mil. The deadline for Government receipt of responses is 20 November 1999.
