The Advanced Technology Program will be holding its 1999 National Meeting on November 15-17 in San Jose, California. The conference will feature in-depth workshops along six technology and economic tracks including: biotechnology, chemistry, information technology, electronics, materials and manufacturing, and economic assessment. A description of each of the five technical tracks will be published in the CBD daily. The second track summary is Chemistry. The Chemistry track will focus on two areas of research identified by industry as being the most significant and path-breaking, that are currently being funded by the ATP -- combinatorial methods for advanced materials research, and membrane and separations technologies. The Workshop "Combinatorial and High Throughput Screening Methods for Catalysts and Advanced Materials" will discuss two convergence technologies for high throughput R&D methodologies. Informatics software integration and lab-on-chip developments will be explored in this full-day session.
