The Government of Honduras acting through The Honduran Social Investment Fund (FHIS), with financial assistance from the United States Agency for International Development Mission in Honduras, invites expressions of interest and submission of pre-qualification questionnaires for the purpose of shortlisting design and supervision firms from the USA and Honduras who can demonstrate extensive experience and capability in the area of design and supervision of reconstruction of roads and bridges. Interested organizations must be able to provide Spanish speaking personnel since all documentation, including the pre-qualification questionnaire, is in the Spanish language. The Honduran Government is starting the permanent rehabilitation of roads and bridges damaged by Hurricane Mitch. The rehabilitation program will be implemented by FHIS and directly managed by a special executing unit. Financing for this activity originates from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Governmentof Honduras. All contracting processes under the RECAP Activity will conform to the GOH/USAID Host Country Contracting Procedures. USAID host country contracting and Government of Honduras contracting procedures. The RECAP Project will rehabilitate roads and bridges, all located in the Departments of Alantida, Yoro, Colon, Olancho, Choluteca and Valle. The combined, total value of the construction contracts will be approximately US$50 million. Only pre-qualified consulting firms from the USA and Honduras are eligible to bid on the design and supervision of these works. The rehabilitation works financed under RECAP will include the following: 2000 kms of non-paved roads; 2000 lineal meters of short-span bridges; 30 kms of paved roads (in scattered sections) and; 20 kms of cobblestone surfacing, using labor-based techniques.
