J -- MK48 TORPEDO INTERMEDIATE LEVEL MAINTENANCE POC Ms. Nancy Gnderson, (703) 602-7706 x613 The purpose of this announcement is to seek interested sources for the operation of the MK48 Torpedo Intermediate Maintenance Activity (IMA) at Naval Magazine Lualualei, Hawaii. The contractor will be required to staff and maintain the IMA facility and perform between 325 and 450 MK48 Torpedo (Mods 4, 5 and 6) maintenance actions per year, or approximately 27 to 37 maintenance actions per month. A maintenance action is defined as one of the following activities: a warshot to exercise conversion, an exercise to exercise conversion, an exercise to warshot conversion, or a warshot maintenance action. The contractor will be required to maintain the facility and associated industrial plant equipment. The Government will supply utilities. The Government will provide training for the tasks assigned. A transition period is envisioned before the contractor assumes full responsibility for the work. The prospective contract will be for a base year in FY 2001 with options for FYs 2002 -- 2004, and may include similar requirements for work to be performed at the Heavyweight Torpedo IMA at Yorktown, Virginia.
