70 -- SOURCES SOUGHT FOR COMMERCIAL RADIO FREQUENCY IDENTIFICATION (RFID) PRODUCTS DUE 120199 POC Rick Hart, (703) 325-3348 E-MAIL: Rick Hart, Contract Specialist, rhart@hoffman-issaa2.army.mil. Sources are being sought for commercially available Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) products in a follow-on procurement to the current RFID contract DAAB07-97-D-V007. The follow-on is anticipated to be either a firm fixed price, Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity type contract awarded under FAR Part 12 for commercial items or a blanket purchase agreement. The current contract requirements for the Active Transponders include a memory size of 128 Kbytes with an omnidirectional read and write distance of 300 feet and a battery life of four years. Both handheld and fixed active interrogators are currently required which can discriminate among 250 transponders within their communication range. The current requirements for the Passive Transponders include a memory size of 64 bytes with a read distance of five feet and a write distance of 1.5 feet. Both handheld and fixed passive interrogators are currently required. A wide range of passive tags is required to include paper and cloth label tags. The above requirements are being contemplated for the follow-on specification. The Government is also considering the use of the NCITS 256-1999 standard in the follow-on procurement.
