S -- - NOTICE OF INTNT TO NEGOTIATE A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT WITH RESEARCH VESSELS BALLENA AND XANTU. Notice of intent to negotiate a sole source contract for the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary (CINMS). Purpose of contract is to maintain, operate, and outfit the research vessels BALLENA and XANTU. The vessels support a wide variety of research programs including a continuing project with UCSB. Period of proposed contract will be for on eyear, with potential for two (2) option years. Proposed contractor will maintain the research vessels BALLENA and XANTU in accordance with established procedures and NOAA safety programs. Contractor will install, maintain, and operate scientific instrument in accordance with established procedure. Work roughly comparable to a NOAA Corps officer if Federally-employed. Sources responding to this notice must possess minimum bachelor's degree and qualifications and experience in maintaining and operating platforms onboard NOAA reserach vessels.
