Project Manager -- Abrams Tank System (SFAE-GCSS-W-AB) intends to
acquire a new engine or power pack for the Abrams Tank System. The
proposed procurement will be done in two phases. Phase I will be a
Development with Prototype delivery "Other Transaction", which is not
subject to FAR contracting procedures. Phase II will be a Production
Contract. Please note that this notice serves two (2) purposes. It is
announcing the release of draft sections of the Research Announcement
for industry questions and comments. This notice also serves as the
only announcement of the final version of the Abrams Re-Power Research
Announcement to be released at the web link cited herein. Regularly
reference the URL at http://www.tacom.army.mil/acqcen/baa/Re-Power.htm
for specific information on the the Announcement, Attachments, and
format for submitting questions. The estimated closing response date
for receipt of proposals is 03/16/00, and questions about the draft
sections should be submitted by 12/08/99. This proposed Re-Power
Program for an engine or power pack is being procured on a
