COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF NOVEMBER 17,1999 PSA#2477U.S. Geological Survey, Branch Of Acquisition and Federal Assistance,
Box 25046, Denver Federal Center, Denver, CO 80225-0046 T -- REQUEST FOR INFORMATION FOR SOURCES OF AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY, RADAR,
LIDAR, OR MULTI-SPECTRAL SENSING SOL n/a DUE 121699 POC Joe Scott (573)
308-3700 The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has entered into an
agreement with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to
support FEMA disaster response efforts in every State (including
Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. possessions) by procuring, under emergency
conditions, remotely sensed imagery/data where response timeliness,
turnaround time, and product quality are critical. To accomplish this
role, the USGS is compiling a database of interested and qualified
vendors from which to contact and place orders for a range of imagery
products, data, or services that is limited to that which can be
acquired/remotely sensed by aircraft, such as aerial photography,
radar, LIDAR, or multi-spectral sensing. The database will be composed
primarily from written responses received for this Request for
Information. Therefore, the USGS requests that interested vendors
provide a written response (not to exceed three pages) that addresses
the following items: 1) Vendor name; whether the vendor is a small or
large business; home office and satellite office addresses and phone
numbers; electronic mail and/or world wide web addresses; FAX number;
a contact person, and a person to contact outside of normal business
hours and on weekends. 2) Equipment and capabilities. A brief
description of available equipment/ capabilities, to include at a
minimum, but not restricted to, the following: (a) type and quantity of
aircraft that the vendor can make available for imagery acquisition;
(b) type and quantity of image sensors, including type/model and focal
length for cameras and whether they have been calibrated; (c)
description of airborne GPS capabilities; (d) film processing
(photolab) capabilities; (e) types and characteristics of imagery and
data that the vendor can provide, such as B&W/color/CIR aerial
photography, videography, digital elevation data, digital multispectral
data, etc. 3) Response range. This is a description of the geographic
area for which the vendor is willing to acquire requested imagery/data.
This can be expressed in different ways, such as by naming States, or
by a specified mile radius around a city. If the vendor can provide
services to any of the U.S. possessions, such as Puerto Rico, Virgin
Islands, Guam, etc., please include. Any imagery or data the USGS
procures in response to a natural disaster event will be held and
distributed in the public domain. Do not respond or include information
on proprietary products and/or services which preclude public
distribution of the data. Although not requested, prospective vendors
may provide commercial pricing information (such as flight line rate)
as part of the response in as much detail as the vendor is willing to
provide. Written responses should be mailed, FAXed, or preferably
electronically mailed within thirty (30) days from publication of this
Request to: U.S. Geological Survey, Mid-Continent Mapping Center,
