19 -- CLEANING, ELECTROPLATING, ANODIZING AND SURFACE TREATMENT FOR SHIP COMPONENTS SOL N62678-00-R-0052 DUE 021500 POC Priscilla Tarr, Contract Specialist (757) 396-5041 ext 456 The Government is interested in obtaining companies to accomplish cleaning, electroplating, anodizing and surface treatment processes required for ship components for the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. The electroplating process will include Misc. Plating Work, Zince Plating, Chrome Plating, Cadmium Plating, and Silver Plating. The plating facility must have the capability to silver plate electrical bus bars (8'LX6"WX6"H). The MIL specifications or Norfolk Naval Shipyard's technical working documents will identify plating geometry; regardless of their location, specifications for minimum plating thickness will be specified by Norfolk Naval Shipyard.. The lifting capacity for 95% of Norfolk Naval Shipyard's electroplating work is minimal, however, the remaining work requires the contractor to lift large components. Lifting capacity of the electroplating facility should be 6000 pounds. An example of a large component would be hard chroming of bearing journals on large rotating machinery such as pump shafts, turbine rotors, and generator armatures. All electroplating and associated processes must be performed in accordance with written specifications and applicable MIL-Standards. The plating facility must be certified to MIL-C-23422 standards for the performance of nuclear chrome plating operations. All items must be inspected and certified satisfactory per the MIL specifications prior to being returned to Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Items returned to Norfolk Naval Shipyard personnel must be free of any hazardous constituents, therefore safe for unprotected handling. The contractor will be responsible for transportation of products to and from their facility. Approximately 20% of Norfolk Naval Shipyard's plating work is considered emergent work and requires 24 hours to 5 days turn around depending on process requirement. Please respond by 29 November 1999 either by E Mail(tarrpt@sushhip.navy.mil) or by Fax (757) 396-5763)with your firms capabilities for meeting these Government requirements.
