Bechtel BWXT Idaho, LLC (BBWI), the Operating and Management Contractor for the Department of Energy (DOE) at the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL) is seeking industry information in preparation of a remedial action on two compressed gas cylinders landfills that are located within the INEEL. The INEEL is located in the southeastern part of Idaho approximately 50 miles west of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Landfill No. 1 is believed to contain 50 to 100 compressed industrial gas cylinders (i.e. welding gasses). Landfill No. 2 is believed to contain approximately 6 hydrofluoric acid cylinders. The purpose of this request for information is to identify potential subcontractors that have prior experience and capabilities related to the removal, treatment, and redisposal/recyle of compressed gas cylinders similar to the ones described above. It is requested that any firm responding to the request for information provide a statement of qualifications sufficient to allow BBWI to evaluate the capabilities of services relating to: 1) safety record, 2) prior experience, 3) treatment and disposal capabilities, 4) analytical capabilities, 5) transportation and handling, 6) training, 7) waste handling, 8) compliance with state and federal regulations, and 9) remote/robotic excavation. Foreign parties should be aware that restrictions may apply which could preclude their participation. A request for proposal is expected to be issued in the future for this activity.
