COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF NOVEMBER 22,1999 PSA#248015 -- THE AIRCRAFT STORES INTERFACE MANUAL (ASIM) AIR FORCE SEEK EAGLE
OFFICE ISSUING VERSION 2.0 OF AIRCRAFT STORES INTERFACE MANUAL. The
Aircraft Stores Interface Manual (ASIM) is an Allied Ordnance
Publication controlled under North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)
standardization agreements. The purpose of ASIM is to aid in the
planning, designing, and testing of new aircraft and munitions, and to
assist in the adaptation and certification of existing stores and
munitions for new aircraft. The manuals are intended for tri-Service
use within the US Department of Defense, use by NATO defense
organizations, and by U.S. and NATO defense-related private industry.
The ASIM is the most comprehensive collection of aircraft, stores, and
suspension equipment engineering drawings available. The content of
ASIM was converted from paper to electronic format on a single CD-ROM
in Version 1.0, published in March 1998. The new Version 2.0 has
upgraded program execution and refined data and enhancements. In
program execution there have been search engine enhancements and ASIM
documentation has been converted to HTML format. In the area of data
additions and conversion, additional aircraft and stores have been
added, all drawings are now at 1/16 scale, and drawings have been
converted from raster to vector format. Scanned photos and/or 3-D
shaded renderings of aircraft are also being added to the database. And
in the area of data setup and installation, the user can now add a
user-drawn weapon to an existing ASIM aircraft drawing through the
addition of an enhanced 2-D CADDRAW software capability in the included
drawing software. The following NATO aircraft types are represented in
the ASIM database: A-10, A-3, A-37, A-4, A-6, A-7, AV-8 Harrier, Sea
