The 10th Air Base Wing Contracting Office, USAF Academy Colorado intends to issue a solicitation and award a sole source contract to American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AAIA) Publications Development, 1801 Alexander Bell Drive, Suite 500, Reston Virginia, under the authority of the Test Program for Commercial Items (Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.501(a)(ii) and 6.302-1). This pre-solicitation notice is issued to satisfy the requirements of FAR 5.101(a)(1). This requirement, known as the Aircraft Engine Design (AED II) textbook is to be the second edition of the original "AED" textbook. The copyright for this textbook belongs to the publisher, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). The first edition of this textbook is used to support the educational objectives of the international air-breathing propulsion community to include the Aeronautical Engineering program at the United States Air Force Academy. The second edition will incorporate important advances inboth technology and pedagogy that have occurred within the past 12 years. A solicitation shall be issued on or about 30 Nov 99. The solicition and requirements document shall be posted as attachments to a seperate notice. Award shall be made in accordance with commercial procedures as outlined in FAR Parts 12 and 13.
