COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF NOVEMBER 29,1999 PSA#2484Supply Department Indian Head Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center,
101 Strauss Ave, Indian Head, MD 20640-5035 66 -- DIGITAL RADIOGRAPHIC EQUIPMENT POC Donna M. Chaney, Contract
Specialist, Code 1142B, (301) 744-6656 The Indian Head Division, Naval
Surface Warfare Center intends to establish a Digital Radiographic
capability to inspect energetic materials, ordnance, and ordnance
related devices by 30 September 2000. These materials and devices range
in size from very small 0.1 cubic inch primers to rocket catapults as
large as three inches in diameter, 42 inches long. X-ray energy sources
used to inspect these items range from a low of 160 kev to a high of 4
mev. The Digital Radiographic equipment must be capable of being
utilized in an explosive environment, i.e., be intrinsically safe,
while being able to withstand exposure to high radiation from the X-ray
sources. Covering an area of at least 14-inches by 17-inches
(continuously displayed or by scanning) the contrast sensitivity must
be at least 2-2T with a 1-1T desired and the spatial resolution must be
at least 5 line Pairs per millimeter with a 10 line pairs per
millimeter desired. It is anticipated that more than one system may be
necessary to meet the sensitivity and resolution requirements while
covering the entire range of specimen sizes and X-ray energies.
Descriptive literature and pricing information for state-of-the-art
commercial off the shelf (COTS) equipment and systems are requested.
Due to the limitation of funds available, it is unlikely that
developmental efforts can be supported. If other COTS equipment or
systems are required to meet the above requirements, the costs
associated with any development or systems engineering efforts must be
included in the price of the proposed capability. Interested sources
that can meet the requirement and desire to be considered, need to
respond by 31 December 1999, with their capabilities. Correspondence
should be directed to the Indian Head Division, Naval Surface Warfare
Center, 101 Strauss Avenue, Attn: Eugene Stefko, Code 30C4, Building
1576, Indian Head, Maryland 20640-5035. This is not a Request for
Proposal (RFP). There is no commitment on the part of the U.S. navy to
award a contract as a result of this request for information. Posted
