(301) 619-2381 Contracting Officer Raegon B. Clutz (301) 619-2395 The
US Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA) intends to
award a contract on a sole-source basis to Getinge/Castle Inc.,
Rochester, NY pursuant to FAR 6.302-1. This action is being pursued on
a sole-source basis because the Government believes that
Getinge/Castle is the only contractor with the technical expertise to
maintain the prototype, Model 4533 sterilizers specially built by
Getinge/Castle for the US Army Medical Institute of Infectious Diseases
(USAMRIID). The sterlizers are utilized in the decontaminating of other
equipment and hazardous wastes. All repair parts must meet the
manufacturers specifications. Due to the location of these sterlizers
it will require repair personnel to be exposed to potentially dangerous
agents and will require them to have immunizations. Getinge/Castle is
currently on USAMRIID's special immunization program. Getinge/Castle is
the only distributor for all repair parts needed to maintain the
equipment. Getinge/Castle does not sell all parts required for
maintenance of the sterilizers to third party vendors. USAMRAA intends
to award this requirement under Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The
period of performance is for a base period of 12 months and four 12
month option periods. The contractor shall provide preventive and
remedial maintenance and support services inclusive of air travel and
transportation, reports, certificates, repair parts, preventative
maintenance, and calibration using instruments traceable to the
National Institute of Standards and Technology or a natural physical
constant. All services shall be performed by technically qualified,
service technicians. Personnel must be professionally and formally
factory trained to service Getinge/Castle sterilzers. The qualified
service technician should have a minimum of two (2) years experience
servicing this type of equipment. The contractor must have access to
all service manuals and current equipment bulletins. The Contractor
shall provide equipment support consultation including technical
information, applications information, and operational assistance or
training to Government personnel, on an as needed basis, during normal
week day business hours. The Contractor shall provide and install
upgrades and updates (software, firmware and hardware). Interested
respondents who feel that they are capable of meeting these
requirements may identify their interest by submitting technical
documentation and resumes demonstrating capability to Charles G. Smith
at Facsimile No. 301-619-2254 by December 10, 1999. This notice of
intent is not a request for competitive proposals. No telephone request
will be accepted. Posted 11/29/99 (W-SN403915). (0333) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0032 19991201\J-0009.SOL)
