NASA/JSC plans to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) for design,
development, test and certification of the International Space Station
(ISS) Urine Monitoring System (UMS) Liquid/Gas Separator Mechanical
Module. The deliverable end products will be a Mechanical Module
Engineering Unit and a Mechanical Module Detailed Test Objective Unit,
which are designed to collect, gently separate, and accurately measure
urine samples from individual crewmembers. NASA/JSC intends to purchase
the items from Hamilton Standard Management Services, Inc., pursuant to
the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1), based on the contractor's
previous unique experience in completing the Phase I effort for
development of the ISS UMS liquid/gas separator. The Government does
not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26.
See Note 22. An Ombudsman has been appointed. See Internet Note "B".
Firm date for receipt of offers will be stated in the RFP. All
qualified responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be
