V -- AMBULANCE SERVICES SOL IFB 509-17-00 POC Minnie L. Smith, 706-731-7174 Provide 24 hour ambulance and raised roof ambulance services to beneficiaries of Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Augusta, Georgia. Ambulances will be licensed and meet the minimum vehicle requirements mandated by the State of Georgia, Department of Human Resources Public Health, Chapter 290-5-30. The contractor will have at least five (5) ambulances available to respond to requests for service. When the raised roof ambulance is being utilized, the contractor will be required to furnish four (4) standard ambulances. The raised roof ambulance will be capable of transporting the patient and electric wheelchair. Response time to requests for service will be 30 minutes. Services will include nonemergency medical technicians and/or drivers as appropriate and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). Nonemergency medical technicians and drivers must be capable to administer oxygen and have successfully completed the Standard Advanced First Aid Course of the American Red Cross or US Bureau of Mines orequivalent. EMTs must have completed training in accordance with the standards published by the Department of Health and Human Services with a minimum curriculum of 81 hours or equivalent including in-hospital training period. EMTs must be certified, licensed or otherwise officially recognized by the local, state or regional government or public entity where the emergency ambulance service is operated or by which it is governed. Applicable Standard Industrial Code (SIC) is 4119 with a size standard of $5.0 million. The successful contractor must be regularly established in the business, financially responsible and have the necessary equipment and personnel to furnish services in the volume required for all items under the contract. Solicitation will be issued for base year with two (2) one-year options to extend. All responsible sources may submit a bid that will be considered. Anticipated issue date is on or about December 15, 1999. Bids will be due on or about January 31, 2000. Requests for solicitation must be in writing. FAX requests will be accepted at 706-731-7172.
