NASA/JSC plans to issue a Request for Offer (RFO) for an engineering unit for a cryogenic oxygen system module for use in an advanced space suit. The module will include the cryogenic oxygen tanks and insulation, pressure regulation subsystem, and recharge station. The engineering unit will demonstrate not only that it can meet technical performance requirements, but also incorporate rapid recharge and modularity for maintenance considerations. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26. The SIC Code and Size Standard are 8731 and 1000 employees, respectively. The DPAS Rating for this procurement is DO-C9. The provisions and clauses in the RFO and model contract are those in effect through FAC 97-14. All qualified responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. The anticipated release date of the RFO is on or about December 23, 1999 with an anticipated offer due date of on or about January 31, 2000. An ombudsman has been appointed -- See Internet Note "B".
