Division, Newport has a requirement for New Attack Submarine (NSSN)
Weapon Launch System System Engineering Support. Contractor services
are needed to support the continued development of the NSSN Weapon
Launch System with particular emphasis on the Weapon Interface Panel
(WIP). Scope of tasks include on-going assessment of WIP hardware and
software designs, trade studies, support and resolution of technical
issues arising during WIP manufacturing and integration testing, and
support for WIP unit/system integration tests, factory acceptance
tests, performance verification tests and weapons compatibility tests.
In order to meet the requirements of these tasks, the contractor must
possess the following specialized knowledge and skills: (1) Knowledge
of key evolutionary developments during the last two years of the WIP
program, including the definition of WIP hardware and software
requirements, formulation of implementation concepts, trade analyses
and designs. (2) In-depth understanding of current WIP hardware and
software designs/interdependencies and interfaces with other systems
including Combat Control, Tube Control Panels, ship's power, etc. (3)
Experience with development of the WIP IR Drop analysis model and a
detailed understanding of the requirements changes that were made to
the ADCAP and Tomahawk Interface control drawings in concert with this
analysis. Contractor must have the ability to quickly translate the
theoretical basis of the IR Drop model into WIP performance
verification tests. (4) Experience with the development of specialized
program metrics tools for tracking and managing WIP development
efforts. (5) Detailed knowledge of the current WIP module tracking
system. A proposed sole source award to Ernest Dorazio Engineering
Services, Groton, CT is currently planned. A firm fixed price purchase
order with a level of effort of approximately 1380 hours is
anticipated with a period of performance ending on 2000 Sep 30. This
acquisition is set aside for Small Business. Anticipated award date is
