The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) plans to award a Purchase Order to Washington State DOT (WSDOT) to evaluate a thin-bonded overlay and retrofitted dowel bars. The evaluation will consist of constructing a 450-meter long section of a two lane, a primary-type highway, containing a thin-bonded overlay placed monolithically with retrofitted dowel bars. The test section will consist of an existing two-lane, primary-type highway made of a non-doweled, jointed concrete pavement between 175mm and 250mm thickness. WSDOT has the only available construction project that will meet the requirements and they are the only known source that can successfully perform this evaluation.
