dschlitt@natick-amed02.army.mil. The United Sates Marine Corps (USMC)
is conducting a market investigation to identify sources that are
capable of providing commercially available three dimensional
camouflage covers for the USMC. The covers must break up the Marines
unnatural silhouette outline in various environments, which include
woodland and desert terrain. The covers must reduce visual outline
within short distances (300 meters) during daylight, reduce near
infrared signature and ideally reduce thermal signature. The covers
must be made of camouflage patterns that are conducive for Marines use
during combat situations and in various terrains (i.e.:
woodland/desert/neutral). The covers must be secure/non-snagging, yet
have the capability to be doffed quickly if needed. Method of
attachment/detachment must be performed without any special tools or
modification of the Personal Armor Systems Ground Troops (PASGT),
Lightweight Helmet (LWH) and Modular Lightweight Load-carrying
Equipment (MOLLE). The covers must be lightweight and easily
transported when not directly attached to PASGT, LWH and MOLLE. The
covers must be water-resistant and be constructed of lightweight
material. Reversible material for woodland and desert camouflage will
be considered. The covers must be durable for military use in various
terrains and must be compatible with the USMC PASGT, LWH and MOLLE
equipment. Modifications to currently available, off the shelf items
will be considered. Samples of the camouflage covers are requested,
although not required. Current product literature, price lists,
specifications, test reports, and information on materials and
components are requested. No information's regarding one manufacturer
cover will be disseminated outside of the Government. Any information
that is submitted by a firm will not be returned and the Government
will make no payment for samples and /or data. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST
FOR PROPOSAL. No solicitation document is available at this time. The
information received under this market investigation may be used to
formulate an acquisition strategy. Please submit any information or
samples to the following address: U.S. Army SBCCOM, SSC. ATTN: Ms. Dawn
