The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Science and Technology (OST) and the Hemispheric Center for Environmental Technology at Florida International University (FIU-HCET) are conducting a comparative analysis of baseline and innovative characterization technologies. This study will focus on non-intrusive methods for detecting, characterizing, and/or quantifying radioactive and other hazardous surface contamination. Evaluation of the selected technologies will be conducted under a standardized condition at the FIU-HCET technology assessment facility in Miami, Florida. Technologies tested should be capable of being used in nuclear facilities and all demonstrations will proceed as if being applied within a nuclear facility.
